Her Story

Why We Ski

Hadley loved Crested Butte. She loved skiing, being in the mountains, and the joy that came with it. In her honor, we're gathering over a weekend that would have included her 10th birthday on February 13 — to ski, celebrate, and give back.

In Her Memory

About Hadley

Hadley Rebecca Hanna smiling on the ski slopes

Hadley Rebecca Hanna had a light that could fill a room. She was joyful, spirited, independent, and full of love — the kind of little girl who made friends wherever she went and made everyone feel special.

She moved through life with cartwheels, hugs, laughter, and a heart wide open. Hadley loved her family, her friends, cheering, dancing, fishing, school, and all the little moments that made life fun. She was silly and thoughtful, brave and tender, and unforgettable to everyone who knew her.

On July 4, 2025, Hadley tragically lost her life in the flooding on the Guadalupe River during the devastating Hill Country floods. Though her time here was far too short, her light continues to shine through the love she gave, the joy she shared, and the legacy now carried forward in her honor.

The Details

How the Challenge Works

  1. Register as an individual, join a team, or start a team.
  2. Share your fundraising link with friends and family.
  3. Ask supporters to sponsor you with a flat donation or by vertical feet.
  4. Ski during the challenge weekend in Crested Butte or from any mountain.
  5. Track your vertical feet using the Epic app or your mountain's tracking app.
  6. Share your photos, videos, and stats so we can celebrate everyone's progress.
  7. Follow the leaderboard for fundraising totals, with final vertical-feet recognition announced at the end of the weekend.

Most people sponsor skiers at about $1 per 1,000 vertical feet, but any amount is welcome.

Wherever You Are

Can't Come to Crested Butte?

You can still participate from any mountain. Ski wherever you are, track your vertical feet, and share your photos, videos, and stats with us. Remote participants are part of the same challenge and can still fundraise, join a team, and be recognized.
